ABOUT US

Our dreams come to reality

Fattoria Lavanda is our family project that we have been following since our arrival to Sardinia. It is a dream that has come true after years of constant work and passion. We are family from Slovakia, both raised in big city but with passion and ambition to change our life closer to nature and sustainability. We have created this farm 2023 starting with as very small family project. Gradually we have acquired more land and now are turning this project into something bigger and unique – levander farm by the sea with educational animal experience. We will be open to public visits from summer 2026.

OUR STORY

We are family from Slovakia who have decided to change our lives and move by the sea at beautiful island of Sardinia in Italy. Both of us are raised in a big city but we always dreamed of something else then ordinary city life. After we travelled around the world, lived 1,5 year in Thailand and visited many dream destinations we have decided to change our life completly in 2021. We have bought a house in Sardinia and transfered here with our small daughter. Our house is in quiet coastal village La Ciaccia just 100m from the sea, it is big and nice but has very limited courtyard and we always dreamed about a farm. As we have realized later, finding a farmhouse or farm land by the sea is almost impossible in Sardinia but after 2 years of searching we have found the right place. We started from zero, on a virgin land with no farming experience. After years of hard work, many fails and gains we are turning this passion into a real farming project. This is how Fattoria Lavanda La Ciaccia was born.

Lubomir – founder and owner

I have always dreamed of living by the sea and adventure. “Ordinary life” was not something for me and I successfully avoided it until now. My passion to farming was born secondary thanks to my lovely wife and now we both share the same passion.

Monika – founder and owner

I always dreamed about having many animals, which for me as a kid raised in a apartment was impossible. Like me husband, ordinary life was not my way, so we both choose to live different. For our daughter we wanted a childhood like we always dreamed.

Marina – new generation of farmer

I was born in a city but since my first year I am living in Sardinia. I love my parents who stay with me all the time, we play, explore and enjoy the life at this beautiful island, our farm, sea and our travels. In my 5 years I have already visitied many countries around the world, adventures with my parents are always exciting. I love to spend time at our farm with our lovely animals and help my parents to build our dream.

OUR GOALS

Fattoria Lavanda will combine levander fields for essential oil production and educational animal farm on unique place, right by the sea. As for my research there is no other place like this in Italy. In Sardinia farmers try to avoid coastal areas because of higher costs of land and prossimity of the sea which makes growing crops more complicated. But we always wanted to be close to the sea and enjoy a magnificient view, so we have choosed levander as our primary crop, which should resist those conditions. Our priority is 100% biological agriculture, we have never used any type of chemical product, or artificial fertilizer at our land. Only fertilizers we use come from our animals. We are starting to plant levander field in 2026 and expect the full production in 2-3 years after. Levander we are planning to process mostly as essential oil and partly as gift products.

Right now we have already in production vegetable garden and fruit trees for our personal consumption. We are trying to grow large variety of our own food to get close to self sustainability as much as possible.

Animals at our farm are just for educational purpose. We would like to show visitors, how farm animals can live free in a natural environment. We have a small quantity but variety of animals. Our only animal products are eggs from our chickens and sometimes meat when there are too much roosters but only for our family personal consumption and self sustainability. Goal is to inspire others to live more sustainable way and be able to see farm animals from close, touch them, feed them and bring more awareness of their life and needs. As both of us vere raised in a city, we can appreciate this possibility, which we never had as a kids. Right now we are the most diversed farm in the area (12 species of animals) and one of the few, which has animals not for production, but for education.
